Beginning Strings

Course Information:

18 hours lecture and 18 hours lab per term. This course is offered tomajors and non-majors who wish to become familiar with the basicfundamentals of violin, viola, cello, and/or string bass techniques.Students are required to practice at least two hours per week. Emphasisis placed on sound production, articulation, and basic music sight readingand theory. In addition, more basic concepts of teaching methods arepresented in order to help prepare those wishing to enter the teachingindustry at the elementary and middle school levels teaching private orgroup string classes.
