Opera Workshop
Fullerton College Opera presents two productions annually: one in the winter and one in the summer. The repertoire includes extended scenes or complete works from the operatic repertoire, performed in original languages, with piano accompaniment. Admission is by audition only. Musical preparation for the fully-staged winter production takes place during the fall semester; staging rehearsals and performance(s) take place during winter intercession. The summer opera workshop has a rehearsal/performance period of five weeks. The production is semi-staged, with limited costuming/lights. The focus is on musical preparation and performance techniques.
Participation Requirements:
Admission by audition and enrollment in MUS 172 F Opera Theatre Workshop. Participants must be available for all rehearsals and performances. Participants in the winter production must be available for musical rehearsals during the fall semester. Students taking part in the fall-semester rehearsals are committed to participating in the winter production.
