Marian Bodnar, soprano, has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Los Angeles Chamber Singers, and at the Oregon Bach Festival. She has sung with artists such as Frederica von Stade, Rod Gilfry, and Suzanna Guzman, as well as performed in premieres by composers such as Tan Dun, Steve Reich, and Morten Lauridsen. In addition to her classical performing, she is equally at home in musical theatre and cabaret and has appeared with Megan Mullally, Jason Robert Brown, Ricky Ian Gordon, and Adam Guettel in concert.


Stage credits include leading roles in regional productions of West Side Story, Carousel, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Fantasticks,as well as numerous revues and cabaret shows. Marian has worked in voice over and commercials and sung for several recordings with the Grammy nominated Los Angeles Master Chorale. Her directing credits include You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Nunsense, opera scenes, and dozens of revues.


Ms. Bodnar received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera from CSULB and her Bachelor of Music with High Honors from California State University, Fullerton. She has done graduate work in acting and directing, and studied musical theatre for several years with legendary teacher and author David Craig (On Singing Onstage), cabaret techniques with Karen Morrow, and acting with Robert Lewis. Her voice teachers and coaches include Elly Ameling, Phyllis Curtin, Roger Ardrey, Dr. Lynn Bielefelt, Brent McMunn, Ann Baltz of OperaWorks, and Seth Riggs.


 Ms. Bodnar is past President and First Vice President of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association of Singing and maintains a  private vocal studio  in Fullerton. Respected for her knowledge of pedagogy, she specializes in building solid technique for all styles of singing and in coaching opera and musical theatre performance. Her students have sung on Broadway (including Antonio Banderas in his Tony nominated role in Nine and Melanie Griffith in Chicago), and with opera companies such as Opera Pacific, Los Angeles Lyric Opera, Long Beach Opera, and Los Angeles Repertory Opera.
