
Nadia Smelser
Soloist
Nadia Smelser has a long list of performance credits spanning both the classical and commercial music worlds. She has performed as a soloist with many prestigious ensembles such as Carmel Bach Festival, I Cantori, Pacific Chorale, Pacific Symphony and the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Nadia has appeared on CNN, E! Entertainment Network, Classical Arts Showcase, The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, and the Hour of Power, and her voice can be heard on the scores of several major films, including "Michael", and "Oscar and Lucinda". She was a finalist in the national cast search for the opera version of the movie, "Gladiator" and had a lead role in the West Coast premiere of the opera "'Dentity Crisis", based on the Christopher Durang play. Nadia was also asked to tour with the Anonymous Four for Columbia Artists, as well as internationally with the Jeannine Wagner Ensemble.
Nadia holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Vocal Performance and teaches voice at Fullerton College, Cypress College, and Orange Coast College, where she heads the Applied Voice program. She also taught at the University of California, Irvine, for two years. Nadia is co-founder of the Baroque and Sacred Music ensemble of Southern California, and is an active recitalist in the southland. She travels the state and the US giving seminars on vocal health and technique, both in speech and song, for voice professionals in the arts and other disciplines. Nadia is also currently a soloist at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Irvine.
